The body of a young girl recovered from a stream in Karachi’s Liaquatabad area has been identified as 13-year-old Sawera bint Nadeem. According to police and media reports, the girl had gone missing a day earlier from the Sikandar Goth area near Super Highway.
After the body was found, rescue officials transferred it to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal procedures, where the family arrived and confirmed her identity. Initial medical examinations revealed no signs of violence or injuries on the body, and it is suspected that the cause of death was drowning.
Police investigations suggest that the body floated through the stream and reached Liaquatabad. However, local residents did not recognize the girl, and no missing person report had been filed at the nearby police station prior to the discovery.
A case has been registered on behalf of the girl’s mother, and police have launched further investigations to uncover the complete circumstances surrounding the incident.
The girl’s family has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the tragic incident. Meanwhile, civil society members are demanding a transparent investigation, urging authorities to pursue any criminal angles and bring those responsible to justice if foul play is discovered.
