Gas cylinder blast wounds 14 in Karachi


A loud blast of an oxygen cylinder occurred inside Sindh Government Hospital in Liaquatabad on Friday night wounding 14 people including a woman and 2 children, hospital sources reported.

The aftershocks ripped through the windows panes and the main gate of the hospital however, no casualty was reported immediately.
Injured have been shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for immediate medical aid while the area of blast also caught fire which was later brought under control straightaway.

The Sindh Health Minister Dr. Sagheer Ahmed, MQM leader Shoaib Bukhari and Town Nazims arrived hospital soon after the blast and enquired after the health condition of the injured people.

Sindh Health Minister Dr. Sagheer Ahmed told, “An oxygen cylinder went off damaging a nearby gas pipeline in the incident. An on duty doctor Kashif, a woman and two children were among fourteen injured who are out of the danger.”

Also, rescue workers and the bomb disposable squad have reached in the government hospital on the directives of City Nazim Mustafa Kamal. Meanwhile, electricity shocks were felt in the area after the blast.
